Braided, Coated, Polyglycolic Acid (PGA), Synthetic Absorbable Suture
Visorb® is a coated, braided, synthetic absorbable surgical suture, composed of Polyglycolic Acid (PGA) and is available both dyed and undyed. When dyed, only FDA-approved color additives are used. The undyed suture is milk white in color. The suture is coated with polycaprolactone and calcium stearate

Subcutaneous tissue implantation studies in rats indicate Visorb® suture approximately retains 83% of the original tensile strength at 14 days, 52% of the original strength at 21 days and 20% at 28 days post implantation.
Absorption begins as a loss of tensile strength without appreciable loss of mass. Absorption of Visorb® sutures is essentially complete between 60 and 90 days.
